Hello and welcome. I'm sure the right tank will show up soon enough.
Have you also checked ebay for tanks? ?

No secret...water changes and lots of them. I have clown loaches in most of my tanks. I have a few other varieties too but the clowns are my favorites. The get fed NLS pellets, zucchini, live blackworms and assorted frozen foods every now and then. But mostly the pellets.

Do It Yourself / Re: Wet/Dry Setup??

If you use a canister filter you can put the intakes wherever you like but if you split them you may not get enough suction to pick up heavier particles. Of course you could always downsize the intakes or go with an oversize canister.
Not as many worries about losing siphon either.

Something like this ??

or you can buy an overflow box. I have small wet dry on a FW 58G and have had no problems at all. Although if you don't have enough flow you can get air bubbles  in the siphon tube and lose the siphon and then bad things ahppen.
